further evidence of the declining cost of information...

...on the church.

A Southern Baptist Convention Pastor emails Andrew Jones how blogging is disrupting (helpfully or not) denominational proceedings (now covered by Christianity Today) that normally would receive scant attention.

The internet and blogging make information broadcast and interaction less expensive. This changes institutional and societal structures.

This exact same type of example is also illustrated by the whole R.C. Sproul Jr. defrocking that has spread quickly in the blogosphere. Regardless of what may or may not have taken place, or how many witnesses or testimonies there may be regarding said incidents, rumors and misinformation and exaggeration can spread like wildfire, and they're hard (often impossible) to take back. The degree of discretion we exercise should be commensurate with the degree of power the particular medium puts in our hands.
